64 Jiunji 慈雲寺(じうんじ)

Denomination:  Soto (曹洞宗)

Main Image:  Shaka Nyorai (釈迦如来)

Location:  Minami Izu-cho (南伊豆町)


The year Jiunji was founded is still unknown however it originated as a Shingon
denomination temple under the name Jiun-in. Over time it became neglected and
deteriorated as a result, then was left in abeyance for many years. It was re-established
by the head priest of nearby Kounji.


Inside the main hall Iwaya Kannon is enshrined and the main image of worship is Amida
