1 Reisho-in 嶺松院(れいしょういん)

Denomination:  Soto (曹洞宗)

Main Image:  Seikanzeon Bosatsu (聖観世音菩薩)

Location:  Tazawa, Izu City (伊豆市田沢)

According to legend, during the Daido Era (806-810), Kobodaishi on his way home from a preaching journey, found the people of the village stricken by a serious disease. Witnessing their suffering, he enshrined Yakushi San Son (Yakushi Nyorai, Nikko Jizo, Gekko Jizo), the twelve guardian gods of Yakushi Nyorai (as well as a god of defense), and applied a secret Shingon process of reciting incantations a hundred thousand times, thereby relieving the villagers from their pain and distress.

Placed on the counter next to the door was a hat 菅笠 (suge kasa), and underneath it a staff 錫杖(shakujo) , the tools of a pilgrim.

The main enshrined image is Seikanzeon Bosatsu. Also in the main hall there are the aforementioned 3 Yakushi Nyorai, the 12 guardian gods of Yakushi Nyorai and Jizo Bosatsu. Reisho-in is one of 7 temples in the Amagi region which make up the 7 Lucky God pilgrimage in Amagi.

The lucky  goddess of fate, Benzaiten is enshrined nearby to the left of the main hall, along a path which leads up a mountain.
