Location: Miyakami, Izu City (伊豆市宮上)
Shakamuni 釈迦牟尼is enshrined in the main hall. Also enshrined but hidden from view is a kabo bosatsu 火防菩薩, meant to be a guardian against fires. A festival for the Kabo Bodhisattva is held every year on April 24th.
To the left of the main hall are 33 Kannon 三十三観音(manifestations of Buddha), as well as 6 Jizo 六地蔵. With respect to pilgrims, the 6 Jizo are meant to protect a traveler on their journey. The Jizo usually carry a staff with 6 rings on the end of it. When shaken, the sound of the rings is said to alert any bugs or insects in the traveler’s path so as to avoid accidently being stepped on.
